Getting Married at St Michael’s
St Michael's is a popular venue for weddings, with a combination of beauty, space and location in the centre of Ledbury. We offer an opportunity for couples to dedicate their relationship to God in an atmosphere of prayer and worship – to look for His guidance, strength and support that make all the difference to a relationship.

Our prayer is that you will know God's richest blessing on your relationship. Our aim is to help you prepare smoothly for the big day.

What do we need to do first?

Get in touch and we'll send you an application form, together with our introductory leaflet.

To book a wedding, you'll need to complete the application form and return it to us with a deposit of £50.

Contact the Ledbury and Eastnor Church Office on (01531) 631 531, or send us an email

If you'd prefer, we've included both the form and the leaflet on this page for you to download.

We’ll then confirm your request to be married on the date, at the time and venue, if it’s available.
One of our Clergy will then get in touch with you.

Can we get married at Ledbury if we live somewhere else?

Yes! It’s no longer the case that you can only get married where you live –
there are all sorts of ‘qualifying connections’ that allow you to have a marriage service with us.

What if one of us has been married before?

You may still be able to be married in Church. We welcome applications from people in all sorts of situations. God wants marriage to be faithful and lifelong, but at the same time we recognise that this unfortunately isn't always the case.

God offers everyone forgiveness and a new start. Christians have discovered God’s new life and we want to share this with everyone
we can, helping couples to address the issues from the past that might hurt or damage a new marriage and to do what we can to make that marriage as strong as possible.

We will meet with you to talk things through honestly and openly. Most couples find this helpful and positive and you can be assured of a warm welcome and that you will be treated with the utmost respect.

How much will our Marriage Service cost?

There are set national fees for wedding services, made up of an amount that goes to the Church nationally, an amount that goes to the local Church for upkeep of the building and fees paid to various people taking part in the service (e.g. the organist). Full information about our current charges is available from the Church Office.

Just occasionally a couple find it difficult to pay the Church fees. If you think that this might be the case for you, please don't panic.
Talk to us as soon as possible to see what we may be able to arrange.

What if we'd like a service after a Civil Marriage?

We conduct services after civil marriages at St Michael's, sometimes immediately after a Register Office ceremony, or sometimes later
(such as when the wedding took place abroad and couples would like a service in this country to which everyone can be invited).

These services can be devised specially by minister and couple together, broadly following the form of the example service you can
see here.

Please note that the Church of England is only allowed to provide weddings and services after civil marriage
to couples of one man and one woman.

Remember what's important...

There is a huge amount of planning and preparation for a marriage service. In all of this, it's very easy to lose sight of what it's all about. The Bible speaks of the blessing that God longs to pour out on all couples preparing for marriage.  Why not begin even now to explore this dimension of your marriage?  Talk to God about it, share your hopes, fears and dreams, and ask for his help and strength.

Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death, passion fierce as
the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, a raging flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If one offered for love all the wealth of one's house, it would be utterly scorned

Song of Solomon 8.6-7 (The Bible)
