Worshipping God

Following Jesus

Sharing His Love

PRAYERS

Father God we praise You for Your promise never to leave us or forsake us.

We thank You that we can come to You with our joys and sadnesses, our hopes and fears.
We praise You for Your many blessings.

We thank You that we can to join together in worship today.

We pray for all our leaders that they will be given wise counsel
for all their decisions.
Lord in your mercy Hear Our Prayer

We come to You Lord

as The One who knows our innermost thoughts, feelings, concerns and anxieties

and as The One who is able to share our sorrows, loneliness and sadness.

So let us come to the Lord and bring to Him all those known to us who are suffering at this time –

let’s be quiet for a moment as we place them before our loving heavenly Lord and Father.

Lord in your mercy Hear Our Prayer

We have been asked to pray for

all who are frightened

the health workers

all who are on ‘the front-line’

all those who are mourning the death of loved ones

Father God, we know that worry and fear are not of Your heart.

1 John 4 reminds us that  perfect love casts out all fear

and we pray Your perfect love upon the hearts

of all those who are burdened with the fear of this virus.

Please comfort those who are living in fear

and free them from the bondage that anxiety creates within.

Remind us all that You are still on the Throne, that You are still in control

and to trust You, resting in the assurance that You are faithful.

Keep us good Lord, under the shadow of Your mercy.

Be with those who care for the sick, comfort the mourning

and lift up all who are brought low;

that we may find strength knowing that nothing can separate us

from Your love in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lord Jesus, You are the Prince of Peace and the King of Love who casts out fear.

Please help us not to be anxious about covid-19, but to seek Your wisdom.

Please help us to stay vigilant about taking precautions and planning ahead.

Please help us to show compassion to those who may be vulnerable

and to those who are working for us.

Lord in your mercy Hear Our Prayer

From the prayer book:

We most humbly beseech You, O Lord,

to comfort and strengthen all those who in this life

are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness or any other adversity;

[and in this time of silence… especially we pray for…

please take time to name before God those on your heart].

And we bless Your holy name for all Your servants who have died in Your faith and fear.

Give us grace to follow their good examples

so that with them we may inherit Your eternal kingdom.

Grant this, O Father, for Jesus Christ’s sake, our only mediator and advocate.

Amen

Sovereign Lord,

Please humble us all under Your mighty hand,

that we may use the opportunities given to us now

for reflection, repentance

and thanksgiving for all the good things you have given us

but which we often take for granted.

Throughout these strange days,

please fix our hearts on heaven and our minds on pleasing You in everything,

so that whatever the outcome we may rest secure in Christ,

in whose name we pray all these things,

Amen.

Merciful Father

Accept these prayers

for the sake of Your Son,

our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen.

We end our prayers with the Lord’s Prayer

Let’s pray for the coming of God’s Kingdom

under the rule of Jesus, His King;

in our lives,
in Ledbury,

in our country
and in the world in general

saying together:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom,

the power and the glory
are Yours now and for ever.

Amen.
